Oscar Help Needed

Morning Spish

well i`ll admit i was terrified to turn the lights on as he was laying flat on his side the last time i saw him BUT he seems a lot better ,, can`t tell you how pleased i am..and i have a feeling he was trying to cool down.. sounds odd i know, but i left the heater off all night,and hes not that used to having the heater on anyway.. heating is usually on so tank used to sit at room temp .. but you know like an elephant would get into the water to cool down, maybe he was hanging out of the water for the same reason.. i dunno, but ive turned it on and down and see if he stays this way- hes looking very chilled laying on the tank floor.. back to his old self energy wise definatley not floating anymore
i dunno maybe the heater maybe the peas.. but sooooooooo happy to see him looking better and you know what im like when they get i`ll ..a jibbering mess about sums me up

so glad to hear he's feeling better!
im having hell at the moment with the temp in the oscars tank, have 2 x 300w and 1x100w running at full blast (32degrees) and still cant get the temp over 20 degrees seriously hoping it has no long term effects. the water feels warm when you stick your hand in but EVERY thermometer i try gives the same reading, 19.6 degrees. gonna try and track down an old fashioned floaty thermometer (instead of these new fangeled lcd type ones, they give me nothing but trouble!!)

Glad to here hes getting better, maybe he was just suffering with heat stroke, prob got accustomed to the english way of life<cold>

i really think thats what it was nelly....seems like spish is having the opposite problem tho is the tank is an out building spish? can you insulate it with anything.. dunno what im thinking maybe bubble wrap or something? - can get really big rolls used for garden insulation over here for a tenner ( no idea how you would do it but all i can think of)
let us know how you get on,sounds like your having a mad time.

just a quick update
Bo has come thru the other side of whatever was wrong with him ( i was sure he was dying ), he`s absolutley back to normal- if not a few yrs younger with it hes eating,playing ..and of course im chuffed to bits

Spish, what about getting some large polystyrene sheets (in UK Wickes do them fairly cheaply don't know about over there though)and putting them around and over the tank to keep the heat in?
