is there a specific kind of sealant I can use to prevent paint wearing off from my fish hideout, any tips would be very helpful. Thanks

I DID REMOVE THE HIDEOUT.

Epoxy resin would be what you need, it's probably more hassle than it's worth but it's essentially what they use to waterproof boats. It would be safe after drying and being rinsed a bit to get any residue off
