If you have the ammonia thing in your filter, take it out. Also, if you have a ammonia test, why don't you have one for NitrIte and NitrAte, Ph, Kh, and Gh? They all come in a kit for about 30 bucks. The most common one is the " API Freshwater Liquid Master Test Kit ".

Hi!
Sorry I live in a small town. They dont sell the big packs only amonnia. And PH

I've had this problem in the past, i was part of a coldwater fish forum and the fish started getting what i believed was white spot (parasites) i took advice as best as i could off the forum by doing regular water changes of about 50% a day and using treatment, the treatment paid off and now i still do water changes 50% a day and test for nitrite, nitrate, ammonia and ph and keep it in a table so i know where I’m up to and if/where i might go wrong. My tank isn’t fully cycled so I’m doing the tests until I see no nitrites, ammonia, nitrates for about 4 days.
You should try something similar, using a table but it is essential to have test kits if your going to have fish.
I never used to use treatments , a filter, test kits or anything until I started the forums and im telling you my goldies life has been a lot better!
Listen to these guys all the time, pet shops just give you advice to make money here people actually care about fish.
goodluck.

Your black and gold fish looks like my Pumpkin :)

Well done on getting them moved over to the 30 gallon, they'll be much happier in there.

You'll still need to keep on top of water changes (maybe each day) because your filter will still be cycling - those filter additives don't work... by the time you get that bottle, whatever bacteria was in that bottle is more than likely dead. Unless you get those refrigerated ones.

I would say change 50% each day - i've not seen that stress my fish before, and that will be less stressful than living in a tank full of poison.

Thanks to everyone helping me!
Today Sushi was swimming around the tank like normal again! I was so happy!
He even ate a little food. His blister is gone now. And looks happy!
Thanks to everyone! Without you she would probably be dead.
Cheers!

On the other thread she said "Were going fish shopping this afternoon and I am thinking a aquatic frog and Speckled oranda for addition to 30gallon tank"

I understand your frustration afishdude, but getting angry/offensive towards her certainly isn't going to help.

This is a forum, if she wanted to really take offence to any of your comments then she could just leave and never come back. Then what situation would the fish be in.

I totally agree with all of your comments, just not neccesarily the way you say it.

It just sickens me when I give them a link to everything they need to know TWICE and they ignore it both times. Poor fish are going to live miserable lives. If you don't care about the well-being of the fish you purchased then you shouldn't be on a fish-keeping forum. The people of this forum love their fish and want them to live the best life possible, if you do not care enough to spend 20 minutes reading the information, then you don't need to be here.

curiosity I agree, and fishdude I agree very much.

hence my question about what the OP meant to buy.

Being nice is the ideal way of diseminating info, however sometimes niceness misses the target.

It just makes me seeth when people ask questions, then disregard the answers.

I can forgive people not knowing about cycling, overstocking, wrong tankmates, everything in fact as LFSs can give terrible advice.

But once good advice is gicven I think it should be taken heed off.

Hello to everyone,
afishdude, I dont know what I did to anger you so much!! I read your advice and and I read the cycling page. We talked to the fish store owners and they gave advice and medication. (Ps we did cycle the tank.) And afishdude if you are just going to critisize me and tell other people how bad I am to my fish then please leave my topic. Seriously I am very sick of you
being so immature in this forum. Oh and for everyone who is wondering if I got any more fish. Yes I did, I got
1 speckled oranda goldfish, (very small)
1 baby goldfish,
and 2 aquatic frogs.
For people who say that I have to many fish. The rule is one inch of fish per gallon. I am not getting any more fish.
If my fish outgrow the 30g then I will upgrade.
