Open To Stocking Idea's For A 4Ft Tank

Looks like i am buying a 4ft tank, see my other thread for pics, and have no idea what to put in it. I quite like Angelfish as they are unusual but don't mind.

What are some good combinations?
What about fish that breed?

4ft tank would work well for 6 angels + dithers and bottom feeders. I don't know the height of the tank you have, but I would want 20-24+" in height so that they have plenty of room.

If the tank is not so tall, look at keyholes and Bolivian rams as a staple to start from, then at Apistogramma + dithers and Corys or plecos, something along the lines of..
* 6 young or pair of keyholes or Bolivian rams
* 1/2m 4/6f Apistogramma of one species
(or 6 young angels instead of all of the above)
* 25-35 5cm tetras of one species
* 10 Corys or 1-3 small plecos

If you have sand corydoras are great bottomfeeders.
Bolivia rams are nice, good colourings.
neon tetras are bright and colourful
I would only recommend 1 angel fish as more could fight

Yeah i will keep it sand.

I have neon's in my roma 90 so don't want more of them.
What about chichids? Heard they are popular and look very nice

I have 2 angelfish and they get along great

Just watch the angelfish in the shop before you buy them and try not to pick an aggresive one.

denisoni barbs x6 and a group of tetras/barbs x10 with corydoras x6+ on the substrate......

Angels are cichlids. So are Bolivian rams. My recommendations for a tank that size are usually Bolivian rams, keyholes, Apistogramma and almost any other under 4-6" peaceful cichlids. I could write you a list which is a few pages long, but it should take you just as long to compile one on your own.

..in other words, do your own research. I am here to help, not do the hard work for you. Doing your own research is the best way of increasing your knowledge. Once you have a few ideas, come back and double check with us, in case you missed something.

khuli loaches are a fun addition.
i recommend going to your lfs and writing down the names of any fish that interest you. then you can come back, research them and get advice.

Its so dificult to say, what do you like? for example

community
species
solo pair looking at breeding<not reccomended unless you have the time and space for the after care>

Personally i would reccomend a community tank, where you can have multiple small species, maybe with one or two bigger varietys..

For ex one or a pair of tbar cichlids or keyhole cichlids, a group of 6-8 colombian tetra,or maybe 6-8 blackskirt tetra, 2 hoplo catfish

Perfect idea, that way you see what you want, we tell you yes or no, also have alook at the pictures section and peoples tanks, that will give you ideas.

Yes i do want a community tank, i already have a 90litre one.
I will go and see fish i like soon, just been a very busy few days!
