hi, i have a 240l tank, and i think i will get a TT EX1200. will this be suitable to run the tank on its own? i might shove a fluval 4+ in the tank just for flow. any ideas or recommendations? this will be my first external!

If it's like other filters than the 1200 LpH that the TT EX1200 quotes will be at zero head and no media in the baskets. (PUMP flowrate, not FILTER flowrate).
In practice with it in a cupboard below the tank (although it depends where you wil place it), depending on what 'lift' you need (top of filter to surface of water), you are probably going to be looking at closer to 800 LpH. On a 240 tank that gives you an hourly turnover of 3.33, (best aim is 5x)

Should be fine on it's own as long as you aren't looking to 'overstock' the tank I would think.

As said above though, with an external the flowrate will depend on where you site it, and also what media you put in it :)

:good:

to adhesive a 5x turnover you will need two EX1200, ish, or a eheim 2028 and a 2224 would do the trick.
