Platys and swords ( micky mouse, red wag, sunset, red velvet ect.)
Neon Tetra's

Flowerhorns

what are the size of these tanks?
do you know how to care for these fishs<like discus?
maybe in the first start of with the community side of fishes until it takes off,,,

take a look at any other local fish shops and see what they do pretend your a customer, ask them whats most popular, whats not etc. dont forget some nice shrimps too!
oh kuhli loaches always seem popular choice too!

Maybe some Cardinal tetras, Rummy Nose tetras, some Rosy barbs, Rams ... dwarf neon rainbows ... flagtail catfish ...

Each tank is about 10-15 gallons. The one for discus is about 55.
Discus need a soft ph, around 6.5 to 7.2 to thrive. They thrive in high protien food and are notroiously picky. Frequent water changes are the key to sucsess(sp?), lot of plants ect. to hide, and warm water, int eh 82-86 degree range. I have kept a sick discus before ( bought him sick) and he lived a month, so i am aware of what they need to thrive. The water there is R/O. Me and the owner are contemplating testing the waste water fromt he R/O, and checking the ph ect. and if it is okay, usuing it for the africans as they like the higher ph. We also are thinking aobut doing the same with livebearers, as they like the higher ph. But all other fish will be on R/O Water. The shop mostly deals with SW, as they probably have almost a hundred tanks ( not including a 200 g show tank) with SW fish and Corals and Anemones in them.

What are L plec's? Never heard of them. I will take the best from both your list and mine, and maybe a few others and show it to him prob friday or sat and see what he thinks.

One thing you have to remember is that this is a business and not 35 of your personal tanks to setup (not saying that is what your thinking)
Obviously the aim is to sell, sell, sell and so your "bread and butter" species (as my boss calls them) need to come first.
these are species like neons, guppys etc that you are going to be able to sell on a daily basis, whereas any of the larger Cichlids/ Discus or African Cichlids will only sell say once or twice per week if your lucky.

I would also avoid too many rare or expensive species for the first few orders, until you know the type of customer your store attracts, The store I work in can't for the life of it sell Discus, we can order 6 in and they will still be there 12 months later, Trust me managers soon get fed up when they have fish taking up tanks that they simply can't sell. Also Discus aren't the hardiest fish, especially when kept in system tanks you don't want expensive species dying on you the first time you order them in.

Also are there fish in the systems atm? if there are none or only a few you obviously can't just put in a huge order because of obvious reasons

you also need to think of quantities and positioning of each species,
A particular fish will seemingly sell better/worse depending on the eye level they are placed at

I plan on having the tanks look somewhat attractive, so they are eye appealing, and give places for the fish to hide, so they dont get stressed out and lose their coloring. I will have to ultimatley decide with him, theese are just idea's being thrown around. The guy was thinking 6 Discus, we already had several people come in asking for them. There are only a few fish right now. We are adding them slowy, as not to kill everything by a spike. The most sure fire fish we can get is mollies and guppies and goldfish. Convicts are also good sellers.
