hey if im ever down your way id love to come see your tanks. then not only can i see your fish , but i can have a little reunion with vinny

Vinny has just had a waterchange and has to be the biggest softy ever, would be nice to see if he still recognises you

I was going to say get a bigger tank as well  Can you not get anymore than 6 Discus in a 100g then? Not that I know anything about them, but I remember in a thread someone found a source that said they shoal in large groups in the wild? I know yours are tank bred ones, but I suppose that goes for a lot of our fish but we still try and replicate a natural environment if we can.

I think you should keep your Cobalt :good:

Ive just seen a 7x2x2 for £30 :hey: you know you want it!!

Ah, would love to have room for a 7ft tank! Oh what I could do with that!

yeah star he is a big girls blouse  and of course he would recognise me after all i lovingly raised him from a tiddler , he will always love me :p

chillipepper according to stocking guidelines yes you could have more than 6 in a 100 gallon . the general rule of thumb seems to be 10g min per fish . however from having had 6 in my 100g i wouldn t want to push it and have any more especilly if you get a pair form .
i may keep the cobalt .

Haha yup when you start to shop around you see all the strains that could be yours ;). I myself am into the natrual looking fish I can't wait to see what my tefe will look like and the royal blue should be a little like the heckels.

And it's all your fault i started thinking about discus. We are all so bad haha

im looking at stendker teffes at the moment , very much like wilds in appearence . and they are pressing the " i want" button in my brain

Are yours coming today Snowflake?

1 discus per 10 gallon. why sell when u have space for 6 more

because i only want 6 discus in the tank , i dont agree with the 1 discus per 10 gallon theory , there is some debate around this and many differing opinions. and from actually having 6 adult discus in a 100 g tank i personally feel that is about right ,especially if they hit their full potential size . i think 6 is enough of a group for the fish to be happy but not so big a group as to be overcrowded. i find it to be a nice happy medium whereby there is still enough room for them to have space should they want it at any time. i may have 8 instead of 6 and some dithers , but that would be with the hope of seperating a breeding pair from the group.

for all u know they could be better behaved, healthier etc. in a bigger group

if 1 discus per 10us gallons is good enough for heiko bleher then surely its worth experimenting urself?

i do 50% a week so far and everything is fine if the tank gets into trouble ill step it up a bit

heiko bleher is indeed a higly regarded expert in the field , i just find that 6 works well for me , altho i may up it to 8 as i said

Do you do 25-50% waterchanges EVERY DAY Mark?

i do 30% every other day , its easy tho just syphon out straight down the sink with a hosepipe , while thats doing give the sand a clean , then put the hose on the tap and re-fill the tank , hey presto hardly any effort at all.
