Nothing Could Have Prepared Me For This

Yeah... hopefully this will never happen again. I don't think I could look at that fish tank again without wanting to cry.

Its just so sick and its worse because people there are far more informed, this is cruelty. i have seen blood parrots here, there was even a case in singapore where they used to inject artificial dyes to get different colours. Such atrocies have not yet ended it seems.H

Walmart shouldn't even be allowed to keep aquarium section in their store. Sometimes I think petco is bad for fish but jeez I went into walmart the other day and strolled down the fish aisle just to see their sales on tanks and I saw some betta bowls. I didn't even know they sold bettas so I looked at them and it was so awful I fell in love with 7 of the 9 of them. Then I noticed all and o mean all 9 were dead. They were underfed and their bowls were even smaller than the normal betta bowls at say petco. I felt really bad.

This is just disgusting, I feel like flying over to America and dealing with this matter personally, seriously? Those parrots look awfully ill.
This is vile.
These stores/people need to sort them selves out.

On a lighter note, all my fish are my family just the same way my cats and snakes are.

Im glad your doing something about, we need more people like you, I would do the same.

Im thinking of going round to all the lfs and chains and inspecting them myself and sorting them because this behavior is just not on.

I think people need to get away from the mindset that fish are like, say, houseplants. They're alive, sure, but don't you just toss them in a tank full of water and feed them? It's lack of education that's the problem (as usual) and man's superiority to think they're just for decoration. I'm with you, snake. I'd love to go around to all the LFSs AND pet stores and check off all the things they need to change to make their fish and pets comfortable, happy and well cared for.

I used to kind of be like that. I never owned fish because hey, you can't cuddle them, and they are pretty much just there. But now that I own fish, I cannot get enough of them. I have 7 tanks, and each of my fish show me how different they all are. It breaks my heart to see sick fish like that. Complete disregard for life is what I saw in that tank.

I told the manager about all the dead bettas and he said " what a shame over $50 wasted, oh well". And I said don't you care all these fish died? And he said I don't really like fish. I told him he needs to take better care of his bettas and if I ever saw 1 more dead one there I'd never go there again.

Unfortunetely you are just one of many people that walk in there and look at the fish. The loss of one customer isn't going to phase them. What you do is go in with a camera, then call them out. Tell them that if they didn't want the photos posted all over their corporate headquartes, then they might want to reevaluate the care they are giving to the fish.

Whenever I go to walmart from now on don't forget my phone and always walk down the fish aisle so I can see if they need any threatening. :) ;)
Still can't believe he said he didn't like fish and only cared the store lost $50.

I wanted to chop his head off is what I wanted to do give him pain for the pain he gave these poor bettas a few were very cute too.

Due to the legal liability posed to the owner of TFF by naming & shaming large corporations this topic is closed.
