Not Sure What To Do.....

I really want to set up a freshwater invert tank with snails and shrimps, but am not sure what to do.

at the moment my snails and shrimps are scattered around several tanks. the snails and amano shrimps are in with my bettas and the atyas are in my community. I really want to combine all my inverts in one tank as with them scattered, i can't treat any tanks with copper based remedies in the event of disease. I can't set up another tank and can't shut down my community tank. what should I do?

How many bettas do you have? Is your community tank compatible with bettas whats the stocking like in there you could maybe move the bettas into there and all the inverts into the betta tank but bettas can be easily harased by other fish in a community set up. Could you not get a cheap 10g for the inverts? Or is it a lack of space?

the comunity tank is vicious. betta'd be ripped apart. i can't get a new tank as firstly, i don't have the space and my parents won't let me. also, theres a lack of sockets. any ideas?

What do you mean by "atyas" are you refferring to fan shrimp or atyids?

What is the stocking of the community tank exactly?

fan shrimp - atya gabonensis.
the community has barbs, kribs a shark and white spot teras. i know this sounds ok on paper but i have had bettas in there before which were beaten up. putting the in there is really not an option.

the thing is, the betta tank is 20 litres, the community is around 120 litres. the bettas and shrimps can't go in the community tank as they'd be beaten up - even eaten. i want to put all the inverts into an invert only tank. however, my parents wont let me get another tank and this leaves the question of what to do with the bettas! anyone have any ideas?

What exact shark is it and exact barbs? Have you got a photo of the tank so that i can gauge how well planted the 120l is.

its well planted. the barbs are odessas and its a red finned shark (all very large). but trust me. its not a good idea. I've had fighters in there before that got beaten up and i had to take him back to the shop. also, the filtration is very strong and he and his girls would be quite literally blown away

I was thinking more about the inverts going in there and I would try placing one of the males (as they are the smaller of the genders) in there and see if he gets eaten as the barbs may or may not take a dislike to him its down to personality. Feed them well then wait an hour and add him so that they do not think he is food immediately.

no, in the tank that i'd like the inverts to go into are a male and two femaales. it's partitioned. the male's in one part and the second part is split in two again, with a female in each part of that. i suppose i could try to put the fighters in the community tank, but wouldn't he beat up the females if i put them in there? i mean, as well as that one of the females picks on the other one as well! also, i'm very concerned about putting them in the community. i don't think they'd fare well at all.

Are you even reading my comments I have not said anything about the bettas at all!! I am talking about the inverts going into the large community tank . Triple partitioned 20l would not be large enough for a betta each one needs a minimum of 3 gallons with 5-10 gallons ideally.

woops. sorry about that saltynay . got confused. BUT i think i'vedecided on a plan. i'm gonna put the females into my big community tank and sell the male. then i can set up my invert tank. thanks for your help
