extremley silly!!!

find out what your water quality is, fix it, treat any health problems, leave the tank to stabilise..... then you can add some more fish assuming you have space!

You need to be careful about the advice the LFS will give you on test kits (& everything else for that matter). Many of us use the API Freshwater Master Test Kit and have found it to work very well and not be too expensive. You definately don't want strips as they are nearly worthless. I believe even plecs should be discussed as its more the dwarf varieties that may need to be recommended for your tank size - but others can help with that.
