---> Nicks Cichlid Journal <---

hadnt thought about that but it cant be harder than trying to catch corydoras in a 4x2x2 fully planted set up with full substrate cover!

cant wait to get the ball rolling on this!

Hi,
Sorry to go a bit off topic, but how did you do that?
I have some Plecs in my planted tank with loads of bogwood that I want to catch. But am finding it nearly impossible.

I am sure you looking forward to it.
I really enjoyed redoing my tank a few months ago.
Though I went the other way - gave up Malawis and got some general tropicals & oddballs.

plecos are impossible to catch. my bn was a mission.

you have to encourage him towards a corner and then swoop, wiill take a few attempts. sometimes you can catch them with your hands if they are upside down hanging on wood. a net cant bend really, but your fingers can so you can cup him. easiest method once you get used to it.

ahoy, whats that i see on the horizon? possible near future updates...

watch this space mateys.

good!!!

because I;m looking forward to them!!

looking ace so far :good:

update time. tank is hopefully cycled with ammonia etc all being nice and low.

have sorted the decor a little bit more and added 8 electric yellow labs, all nice and small.

here are some pictures, hope you like the tinsel.

as always, please feel free to comment and give suggestions/opinions.

cheers.

the labs are begginning to stake out their areas even though they are tiny. begginning to feed as well.

pseudotropheus acei (10) have been in there a week and a half now and look great. have really brought the labs out from in between the rocks.

2 bristlenose also in cleaning the tank and munching cucumber and generally looking sexy.

a quick update. got myself some young fish to grow out ready for the main tank.

2 slate caves and other larger wood effect one.

cheers all.

excuse the algae and some paper in the shots. 'au naturale'

just read you posts
really nice tank very differnt to what you normally see with a malawi set up :good:
with regard to keeping phamton plecs in with malawis they will do really well!
are you planning to upgrade when your fish get bigger my acei male is around 6.5 inches long now

shouldnt need to upgrade. a 4x2x2 is big enough for acei, yellow labs etc. ( 450 litres. )

im still not so sure about riisking it with expensive plecs. i wouldnt mind a 'show piece' one but i dont want to lose 40+ pounds!
