NFL 2025

And the Pats defeat the Bills on Sunday night football in front of the nation to end the Bills’ 4 game win streak. Lots of penalties and turnovers but the Pats come out on top as they concluded the game with a field goal. Pats 23 Bills 20

My Eagles play NY Giants tomorrow. I can't believe we have to be worried but we have not been playing well & NY has come alive? I hope not. At least the sports bar will be quiet & I can eat a good burger & fries to numb our possible loss.

Sorry to go off topic a bit but not worth starting a new thread. GO NAVY in college football. To me this is big as I'm medically retired Navy and follow the team. Navy is now 6-0 on the season. In today's game against Temple they went down by 7 with like a minute and a half left. They rallied and went down the field to score a touchdown.

The extra point try was not done to tie the game. They went for the two point conversion and made it with a great catch for the win.

I don't know what to say about my Browns except that they have no offense and the offensive play calling is bad.

Receivers are dropping balls left and right. A rookie QB in only his second start throws the ball more than fifty times. Shoot, Browns have the ball first and goal on the Stealers' four yard line and don't run the ball even once. This is bad play calling ending in a field goal. When you have a young runner that hits the line hard you run the danged ball.

At least rookie QB, Gabriel, is doing better than Flacco. In four games Flacco had eight turnovers while Gabriel, in two games, has none.

While some scores don't look like it the Browns defense is playing well enough to win but when the defense is on the field twice as long as the offense the defense is eventually going to fail.

The officials are not helping either. Cleveland is expected to lose so almost all calls go against the Browns. As an example Cleveland got a running into the kicker penalty on a Steelers' punt that led to the Steelers' first TD. The Browns' player was clearly blocked into the kicker which, by rule, negates the penalty yet it is still ruled a penalty against the Browns. I'm really not using such calls as an excuse as it has been the case for just about forever. It is just human nature for officials to be biased toward a team that wins against a team that loses. Whether conscious or not the officials just expect the team that tends to lose to be in the wrong.

LOL! I still love my Browns but they sure can be frustrating. ;)

Dang, a very bad week for Philly in all sports. NFL, MLB play offs & even NHL opener all loses.

Eagles really need to mix up their plays. 1st down run, 2nd run/pass option, 3rd pass, 4th, tush push if close. They seem to have a couple novel plays in 1st half but then nothing else later. We need a better offensive coach & faster QB reads. If we protect QB all our receivers are double covered.

We sure are not looking "super" so far this year. Injuries we should have known were happening to our O-line for a few years now & we have some practice players to try out. But we seem stuck on using the usual not ready for prime timers. Ugh!

We play NY again in 2 weeks, Their rookie QB & RB are looking too good.

There were some good games yesterday, and some that made you want to change the channel, yeah I'm looking at you Jets/Broncos.

Since there is Monday Night Football today I thought I'd bring up an interesting fact.

The very first Monday game was between the Browns and jets with the Browns winning. What's interesting is that they were not the teams of choice for the game. Dallas was wanted but then Dallas coach Tom Landry blocked Dallas from being part of it. He said something like "football was for Sunday after church and just would not work on any other day" or along those lines. LOL! I wonder what he thought in hind sight.

Browns and Jets also had one of longest playoff games going double overtime in the 1986 AFC Divisional Game. With four minutes left the Browns were down by ten and Bernie Kosar, Browns QB, brought them back to tie at the end of regulation. Browns won in the second overtime. I always loved Kosar. He had no arm strength but could read the defense like crazy. He just always seemed to know when the defense was going to blitz and the result, more often than not, resulted in a big gain from Bernie Kosar to Ozzie Newsome. Of course the defense wasn't too bad with Chip Banks, Pepper Johnson and Clay Mathews at linebacker. Of course the corner combo of Frank Minnifield and Hanford Dixon weren't too bad either. ;) Actually it would be hard to name a better corner tandem.

All I can say is I wish we had Skatteboo or whatever his name is....although we already have Bijan Robinson...different kind of runner, but fun to watch him make guys just fall down trying to keep up with his jukes.

Skatteboo (sp?) is like a modern day Earl Campbell ...on speed....

pats beat Saints 25-15. The Pats defense is excellent and Maye is making his marrk as a great quarterback. If the Bills lose tonight to Falcons, the Pats will be tied for first place in their division.

Buffalo lost. The Patriots are now in sole possession of first place as their win loss records are tied AND the Pats beat the Bills on Oct 5th.
