NFL 2025

I think I just witnessed the game of the year. Josh Allen and company made a huge comeback to defeat the Ravens by a last second field goal . 41-40 Bills. One for the record books.

Only one way to finish week 1 off, a demoralizing victory by Da Bearsssssss.

Sigh, I feel SO bad for my Browns' defense! Browns lost to the Ravens 41-17 which sounds like a total defensive collapse but that was not the case. The actual problem is special teams and Flacco.

Consider that my Browns' defense held the Ravens to a net total of 81 yards in the first half with the combination of Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry only gaining 6 yards on the ground. Sadly, the defense can only spend so much time on the field before they wear out.

Browns won't consistently win with Flacco. In two games he has four turnovers; three interceptions and a fumble. He should have retired at least two or threes ago. Ya, his two interceptions in the first game against the Bengals went off of receivers' hands so many say they were not his fault but I think they were, in fact, his fault. He has no mobility and no touch on the ball. Both interceptions against the Bengals were thrown hard when touch was needed. Flacco's fumble was picked up by the Ravens and taken in for a TD.

Then the special teams... Against the Bengals there was a missed extra point and a missed short field goal. Browns lost by one. Against the Ravens there is a blocked punt that ended up as a Ravens' TD.

You just can't consistently with bad special teams and a QB that should not even be on the field. Ya, it is nice to hold back and protect a rookie but, sometimes you just need to put a guy out there the either sink or swim.

At the end of the game bring in third round rookie QB Dillon Gabriel. He immediately goes down the field for a TD. Yet, I'm sure, the Browns will still start Flacco in week three against the Packers. Is Dillon Gabriel really ready to be a starter? Probably not but I'm sure that he would do better than Flacco. Then there is another rookie QB, Shedeur Sanders. I think that Shedeur Sanders could end up as the eventual starter but, right now, I think that Dillon Gabriel is more capable.

Gabriel starts in week 4.
Now if you want to talk defensive collapse, the Lions just hung 52 on my Bearsssssss.

I hope that you are right about Gabriel starting game 4 but it should be game 3. Flacco is just not capable any more if he ever really was. Even when with the Ravens and Flacco won the Super Bowl it was not Flacco but, rather, the defense.

Watch out for the Lions. They are a REALLY good and solid team.

Flacco was a good QB.......8 years ago.
I figure they'll give him one more start. I mean this poor outing was against the Ravems D after all. After getting embarrassed by Buffalo in week 1 they wanted to make a statement in this game.

I hope you are wrong and Flacco is not the game 3 starter. I respect Flacco's career but he is just no longer an NFL QB. I mean the defense does not even need to do any sort of stunts or blitzes as they know where he will be as he can't even get out of his own way let alone avoid a rush.

As to defense I truly believe that the Browns may be better than the Ravens but they just can't be on the field as much as the offense and special teams force them to be.

Sadly it is, so far, a fact that the defense is all the Browns have.

Well the Browns actually managed to beat the Packers on a last second field goal. Still WAY too many penalties and Flacco didn't help much and now has five turnovers in three games. The Browns' defense won this game with three of four sacks and a crucial turnover. Of course the Browns' special teams looked better including a blocked Green Bay field goal attempt.

Still, while it was a win, I still want Flacco out. Once upon a time he was a pretty good QB but no longer has any mobility or touch. Sigh, add no consistent accuracy to that. As to the lack of touch it is like he throws deep at 90 MPH but throws the same 90 MPH on a screen. As both Brian Sipes and Bernie Kozar proved years ago touch and reading what the defense is going to do is a lot more important than arm strength.

I just don't know who should start at QB for the Browns. Gabriel is probably more ready but, I think, Sanders has more long term potential.

Next week is in Detroit and I suspect, with the win today, Flacco will start again but I don't like it. :(

Well I think everyone knows Flacco is past his prime but what can you say when that is the best a team can field ?

In any even Caleb finally won and Chief while they won looked really sad. Sad Sad Sad. But the team i like who seems like they should not win any games but keep on winning is TB. Mayfield Mayfield Mayfield !!

That is part of the frustration. Cleveland had Mayfield although he really just didn't seem to fit. They also passed on drafting Mahomes although drafting Garrett instead has not turned out too bad. ;)

What can i say the front office sucks; sort of like the vikings letting sam darnold go. It is always a question is the qb good because of the team or is the team good because of the qb.

Flacco was horrible, but they won. That gives Flacco another week of life and a one week delay till.the start of the Spencer Rattler Experience.

Sigh, I've watching football for a lot of my life including having season tickets to old Municipal stadium back in the mid 1980's.

Things have changed so much in the NFL in reference to what a drafted QB is supposed to do. Look at a couple of Cleveland's better quarterbacks... Brian Sipe was a 13th round draft pick and Bernie Kosar was also drafted in the later rounds; I think round 7 or there are some that say the Browns got him in the supplemental draft.

Shoot, look at Brady. If not for an injury to Drew Bledsoe Brady might be just a footnote.

Things have changed a lot in the NFL concerning the QB position. In today's NFL a team now tends to draft a college star QB and have him start right away to get an offense going. Personally I think this is garbage. If I were starting an NFL team my first offensive concern would be the offensive line. Second would be receivers and a decent running back. Now I have the tools for the offense so I can, now, look for a QB that will fit well with the offensive basics I've already accomplished. Too many think that the QB is the most important person on the field but it just isn't true. On offense the most important is the line especially the left tackle. On defense it is also the line.
