Baby fighters are now 2 weeks old and are eating like mad. 4-5 small feeds of either microworm or BBS a day and the babies are growing well.

So what about their next feed....how long do i keep them on MW's and BBS ? should i start to add something else to their diet now ? Never been a lover of feeding flake to fighters....they just seem to eat it as a survival measure.

Any suggestions welcome

Andy

Hi Andy,

You are doing ace as you are at the moment. At a month old i tend to move off of MW and on to grindal worm as they hold more goodness you could also get some betta starter that is specially for Betta fryand will help move onto pellets when they are older.

Hope that helps

You can keep them on MW and BBS as long as they will eat it... you'll just have to keep increasing the quantities. I like to use grindal worms as my next food once they are large enough (maybe a month old) so find a starter culture now and get them going! I think I introduce frozen daphnia around that time, too. I usually replace the MW with grindal worms and daphnia but keep feeding BBS... I like to just phase out one food at a time.

I try to get them on dry foods as early as possible so I have a backup in case all my cultures crash, and I want to make sure they will eat dry food before I sell any of them. I'm going to try "golden pearls" for this spawn. They're supposed to be a brine shrimp substitute and come in all different sizes, from nearly a powder to regular betta pellet size. I got mine on Aquabid. I think they will work out well because you can just start with the smallest and gradually work your way up.
