dont fish them out, leave it in shrimps eat them its an important part of there diet

Ah I get confused, I've read up loads, some say take it out, some say leave it in. So I went with the advice that was in the middle to leave it in for a day or so then take it out as it will pollute the water.

Do you have Bamboo too?

So is Tiger Shrimp the same as the ones we eat?

Just googled them. I don't have any or very little algae luckily, not sure if the new CO2 system will bring some along though.

i dont have much algae either (other than dreaded bluegreen) but it doesnt seem to matter the shrimps eat everything thats left behind, total scavengers, and from the size of my biggest tiger i suspect theyre not the same, try planetinverts.com theyve got loads of details on shrimp in the freshwater tank.
hope this helps

WOW there certainly alot of quote (quote / quote ) in this topic post haha . =)

which of the 2 would people recommend i go for the cheaper one with its intank diffuser or the more expensive external defuser with its active diffusion, im only running a 10 gallon atm and im not sure my filter will be powerfull enough to run the more expencive one since its only a eden 501 which has quiet a small turn over.

To be honest, I'm thinking about either going for an external active diffusor as I see the advantage of the active diffusor over the passive one or a good looking glass internal passive diffusor.

I just think the one that came with it maybe a little too much of an eyesore, but that just could be me being a little too fussy. I would like to see what an external one looks like, so if you've done any research and have some sites for me to check out that would be cool :good:

off hand ive not seen a true external diffuser, only diy ones people have made that are inline, which are just like the one that comes with the more expensive kit (the one you have) which of course you should be able to fit externaly since its supply of water is from the filter only right? if your worried about it being an eyesore fit it closer to your filter and hide it within your cabinet :)

(edited to make more sence)

Would love to my friend but it is not an external one. It fits together like a toy snake and it has a hole in the back of it which I can only image that it is for build up of water pressure, so water does leak from it. I know that my Bamboo Shrimp likes it as he was around there tonight filtering the water for me, not looking forward to the bill when he sends it to me

If I could get one that has an in and out at both ends like my external heater then I would be very happy and I think that it would be even more efficient as the CO2 would be in the water composition even more before it comes out at the other end.

hmmmmmmm
gimmie a minute i might be able to find a link that'll help (Y)

ok so i read the entire thread and i dont think its relivant since althought its external (or could be used as external) there would be a loss of pressure in the pipe and water wouldnt flow out of it, or if it did at an reduced rate.

heres the thread anyway should you want to follow it up :)

Hmmm, very interesting indeed. I hope that I will be okay with the pressure drop as I have a Fluval 305 on a 180 litre tank and I hope that the pressure will hold well. I remember a German reply to one of my emails was 'an active diffusor needs water from a pump or filter to operate', so that's obviously what he meant.

I see that the balls will help the CO2 to mix in with the water better, I love the 6 ball one

PS Think I'll be off to bed now and get back to this tomorrow and read up some more. Cheers for that info :good:
