This is my first post, so I hope it's OK. I am a birdwatcher by inclination, but my wife and I find the aquarium (Aqua One 850) very restful and entertaining.

I have been unable to find out what the rasbora type in picture one is. It was bought second hand as it had outgrown its owners small tank and was described as a feather fin. There are hundreds of pictures of featherfins on the net, but none looks like this. It is about 10cm long and is called Mad Max because it sometimes hurtles round at great speed and occasionally puts its nose to the tank side and seems to be trying to tunnel through.

The Geophagus is showing the stripes it develops when the two of them (Homer and Bart) display to each other.

The Moonlight Gourami started out about as big as his face is now.

I wish I could remember the name of that barb in the first picture, is that the one you need ID'ed? I sell them quite a bit at work. At first I thought torpedo barb but that's not it. Then I thought cumming barb but that's not it... Someone should know the name though.

Isnt it just a rosy barb?

I don't think it's a rosy barb, because there is red streaks on the ends of the caudal fin. The ones I sell a lot at work have red on the caudal fin, with a silver base color and a somewhat rainbow hue to them on the body.

That little guy there is a "Filament Barb" (Puntius filamentosus) Or at least, that's what he looks pretty similar to.

I've seen 5-6" filament barbs at my LFS, they do best in a fairly large group though.

Thanks for the info. The key features of this fish are its torpedo shaped back spot near the tail, an indistinct dot at the end of each tail fin, the two longish and one short 'feathers' that project from its dorsal fin, a line of nine small spots on the sides of its belly and its colour is variable according to the light, but it is quite golden on its upper parts.

Just Googled your suggestion and you are absolutely correct - thank you.
