Well it has been a very fishy day today. We had a trip to the Blue Planet Aquarium, which was brilliant. On the way home, we stopped off at the Abyss in Stockport for some food and ended up coming home with a Aqua One 120 Aquience 300 litre tank! We had been looking for a bigger tank for a while and this one was on offer (you know how the rest goes)... Here's to a late night of swapping things over :good:

Congrats on a new tank! Always a good feeling :)

Is Abyss a good fish store? I live in Middlewich, Cheshire, so could always go down for a drive if it is a reputable place?

Yes, I think that it is very good. They have lots of nice Cichlids and an excellent selection of Discus. All of the fish seem to be in great health and can usually be seen feeding. They have quite a lot of marine aswell if your into that. All the usual as well and quite a lot of money off many tanks. I have just remembered that I forgot the food, so I will be back again tomorrow.

Great, I might drive down there one day as Stockport isn't that far away! I went to a small fish store called Oakhanger in Alsager, Crewe, and a lot of the fish there were really healthy! It is a small family run business and they live on site as well so I always trust these kind of places moreso then the larger stores.

I liked the Abyss when I went but not to my personal taste - but just saying if your from that area you have you go to Pier Aquatics!! Brilliant shop but research your fish before you go as they stock a lot of monsters and do suggest them from time to time...

Congrats on the new tank BTW :D 300 liters is a great sized tank lots of options! What do you keep atm?

Ohh after seeing the piranha's at the Blue Planet today that would be good!!

We are really into new world Cichlids though, and at the moment have an Ellioti and a Blue Acara along with a Rusty Pleco and 9 Black Ruby Barbs. These will go in it and I was thinking either a Jack Dempsey or a Severum (space permitting) and possibly increase the Barbs to 12. We will probably get the larger fish tomorrow to stop the pre existing stock obtaining too much territory!

We can not really have plants as the Ellioti likes to dig big holes everywhere. It will have sand and lots of rocks and bogwood. It does have 4 T5 lights though so might need some floating plant cover to dim them down. This might be hard though as planning to run my Fluval 405 along with the Aqua 1250 that came with it...
