Must have been a recent hatching of western fence lizards AKA "blue bellies". We've been seeing a tiny 1.5 inch 1 on our back patio. Today when I came home there was a slightly bigger 1 on the indoor garage steps. We both freaked out lol. At least it ran toward the outside. They can fit under the garage door, so I'm not worried it'll be trapped.

It used to be we had blue bellies in the backyard & the bigger aggressive alligator lizards in the front yard. When we parked in the driveway, I had an adult challenge me by our front door. Mouth open & lunging. I gently swung my grocery bag toward it & it ran under an overhang. 1 time we had a contractor in the house & he asked, since we have fish tanks, was the lizard a pet? No! He offered to catch it even though it was the kind that bites. I released it in the front yard; neither of us were bitten, lol. I like my wildlife outside!

The male fence lizards are stunning with their blue green coloration. If I remember correctly they are live bearers, which is somewhat uncommon in the reptile world.
Lizards are nice to have around, they eat.bugs before they can get into your house.
