New Tank ?

Well, with fish-in water changing, you ideally are basing your frequency and percentage water change decisions on the readouts you get from your twice a day ammonia and nitrite results. You are trying to settle in on a pattern that protects you from it ever spiking over the 0.25 mark. But if you don't have the liquid kits yet to do the tests then the alternative is just to "over change" by doing something like 50% (or some amount that is bigger than 25% and matches your bucket or something) every day (until you get the kit - the kit will probably then save you a lot of work!)
