New Tank Suggestions...

Hey guys, went to a couple of my LFS's earlier on to look at some tanks.

As some of you might know, i'm currently in the planning stage of a new setup. Im looking for something around 200 Litres [sub](I think thats just under 45 gallons for you yanks) [/sub]

Anyways, just wanted to know who has a tank this size and are there any recommendations on what brand/model to buy. If possible i would like a variety of suggestions both corner units and normal cuboid shaped.

Instead of searching the net [sub](google) [/sub] I'd rather gain some user advice aswell.

(I've also been looking at the Roma 240, if anyone has this. I'd love to know what its like because it looks fantastic)

Ive got the Roma 240 and its great, plenty of stocking options. Mine has ended up being a temp situation as I want to go bigger now but that happens to all kind of people lol.

If you go for the 240 only concern for me is that you would need to add additional surface aggitation as I have an FX5 which is bigger than the 305 (or 405 not sure which you get) and more powerful and that only creates a current 3/4s of the way along.

Also have a look on here, ebay and aquarist classifieds see if you can find a good condition second hand one. Much cheaper and its usually a case of people wanting rid of them rather than anything wrong with them.

i have a Juwel Trigon 190 corner tank, although its the biggest tank i own, its really well made and the cabinet looks good.

But i don't mind what tank i get. I think i saw a model similar to that, and i did quite like it

I dont think a 2 plus would do the job on a 240? What kind of lph does it have? I would try and get an external if you can

I honestly could not say, my knowledge of filters is very limited.

Getting an external would not be a problem at all

I just presumed if they were selling the tank with the filter, it would be right for it.

Specification:
400 Litres per hour

that is the only bit you need^ basicly the Litres per hour should be approaching 5x the amount of water the tank holds,
therefore 400 divided by 5 means that it is only suitable for a 80L tank

For a 240L you really do need an external


Hagen also make a Fluval Roma 200 if that is what you are after, (although your bound to want to upgrade again)

Another question, if i had two filters (both capable of doing half of a 200 litre tank) would that work? If you get what i mean?

So you mean 2 filters capable of doing half the tank each? I think it would just be cheaper to get the external, you can pick up second hand ones quite easily and as long as you wash them out and fill it with your old media you will be fine

Yeah thats what i meant, im not immediatly going to go for the cheap option, because i want the best for the fish. But with the tank & all i am trying to keep costs to a minimum.

I think just one external would be best for both your fish and your wallet to be fair. Are you from the UK? If so have a look on a website called aquarist classifieds they have tons of adverts like ebay but just for fish stuff you might get lucky with something in your area
