Rightho new tank setup for my ever-growing Bob... (nearly 7 inches now, will trouble him for a pic later)

24"x15"x12", 2 heaters (one 50w the other 25 watt (they had no suitable heaters in store!), filter will be transfered from bobs tank (hang on type), aeration is via the new Hydor ario 1, unfortunately the main light I ordered is missing a part, so I'm waiting for delivery of this.

I hope to take the existing bogwood decor from Bobs tank, to add to this one...

any ideas/comments are welcome (oh also plenty of floating plants from his original tank for shade).

LOL! yeah sorry should have said 'work in progress' :p yeah gonna have a cork background, just need to find the missing part for my light :p otherwise its off to the shop, again!

Yean nice tank, but put a nice colorful backgroud. It will make it look better.

plain blue background would look good, or even a black background...dependant on the fish colour

cool ;> yeah cant wait to get bob in there, just debating how to do so....

Will it be ok to just transfer him and his tank water, along with the filter to the tank?

shouldnt really involve cycling as such. probably....?

Well bob is black/white/yellowish.

Still trying to decide on a peaceful tankmate he wont eat!

From what I hear, I don't think he will grow anymore... :good: This is a Pseudopimelodus raninus, right? I think some more rocks would benefit the look of the tank, and in inhabitants!

You really don't even have to move his water unless your tap water is different that what is in the tank. Just fill up the new tank, make sure it's the same temp as the old one, then move over the decor, plants, and filter, and Bob of course. You shouldn't have any kind of cycle since you are moving the majority of the bene bac with the filter.

Cool thanks :>

I've chucked in some trumpet snails, and will insert bob et al when I get home from work :>

I'm taking 'his' piece of bogwood with him, so that should add some extra cover, and will pick up some more rocks too.

I've been eyeing up a banjo catfish at the lfs and wonder if that would make a good companion, or would bob nobble it at feeding time?

Im almost 100% that bob is: http://www.dkimages.com/discover/previews/927/75010614.JPG

although nomclature and info varies :p

Yeah I measured him properly today and he is now 7 inches from tip to tail, jeez!

Thanks for that, ok.

That combined with a little more searching I can say:

Bob is not:

bumblebee_catfish.jpg
Pseudopimelodus raninus

or

mirco1.jpg
MICROGLANIS IHERINGI

or

01%20catfish_bumblebee.jpg

but looks very much like:

(Leiocassis siamensis)

He has the same paternation/barbel allignment. But he is older (I presume) than the pictured specimen, because of his bulk and stature.

Hmmmm the petshop I bought hi from has him labelled under the common generic pseudonym, so no hope there, and unfortunately they cant get any more in. I will try and get another photo tonight....

The move went very very well. He did not feed for two nights, but he took some last night after lights out :>

I will get a pic! its lovely to see him stretching his fins properly in a larger tank :> Still thinking of getting a banjo or khulies... but doing my research for a while first :p plus after spending out £70 on bob the mrs would kill me if bought anything else fish related for a while!

Soon as I get a pic I'll put it up. Thanks for asking!
