Your nano is beautiful. It is hard to realise its only a cubic foot - there is a lot to look at and I am amazed and heartened to see how many (small) fish you have. Please dont stop posting the pics.
I agree. The use of hardscape and space is very good. Will you be sharing your twig secrets Gill?
no secret they are either oak or maple twigs i got off ebay, this being before i knew o culd simply use oak/maple twigs. Soaked them in the Rain butt that has goldy fry in it from when i had the pond for 2 months to be sure. then left them to dry in the cats old condo in the garden. good scrub down rinse and in the tank.
Thankyou its taken along time and alot of effort to get it this way.
May I ask how long?
I would say practically it has taken 2 weeks - but damn it, it has taken alot longer reading threads on here and Other boards (cough cough TPT --GMF).
The through learning about plants and water and ferts and lighting and fish.
Which fish were best through trial and error, compatability.
what plants i can use VS lighting and time and effort required to maintain the plants and scape.
the best substrate to show off the plants and fish. and finding i like simple black sand. dont get me wrong i think the plant specific substrates are good, but not for me. always reminded me of sheep poo.
learning the LFS' suppliers and mortality rates and what chems they use and what they feed their own fish.
seeing smaller tanks being scpaed and planned and shown off the levels of George and Steven and so many others on here. watching how they have developed and grown through the process.
But wanting to stay myself and not hav to use expensive equipment and making what i have and Know work for me.
How it would look from this angle and that angle. How will it look when photographed, scaping it to both show off the fish but slao to recreate as natural an environment as possible.
I know that not many of my fish would ever meet in the wild, but still creating that balance of the many fish and other inhabitants.
so about all together a good 6 months including planning and research and development of ideas. evolving the old tank into many different scapes and fauna changes.
Biggest inpspirations being George and Stevens scapes on here and TPT. Them having so much more experience and knowledge and better understanding of stuff. And the challenge being to do that my way. And being that I love to see the tank and fish grow and thrive, and peoples reactions to it and wanting help in doing it themselves.
The best thing about aquatics is the infinite depth for change and variety avaiable for an aquarist and the continous evolution of the Tank Scape, that has limitless posibilities.
Ultimately knowing no-one else but you did this.
i think that sums it up nicely. if it dont make sense but it makes sense in my head (which is severley screwed up ATM with meds and crap) if i went off on a tangent sorry. but been waiting to say that for a while.
