recently had gone out to by some specimin tropical fish we traveled all around upper england to come across a fish that was unusual.the shop keeper told me this loach was called a red orchid,and just been disscovered.I paid 30 pounds for this fish and after later inspection on the internet and local contacts i found no results on this RED ORCHID LOACH it was actually called Homaloptera orthogoniata (saddle spot loach) can any one tell me anything about this fish as i am told it still is hard to come by.
I love loaches and not familiar with this one... looks pretty cool though!

I would say its rare... have never seen one anywhere before....
the reason i paid so much for it is I was told it was ultimatley rare and only just been discovered.
He then went on to say that it had only came in stock a couple of days ago so i was lucky to see it.

Lesson learned, don't buy fish on a whim, especially if you don't even know what it is. Sorry about you getting ripped off, but none the less; a very nice loach it is.
They had some of these loaches in wildwoods,enfield last time I was there. If I remember correctly they were about £6 each. Thats the only time I have ever seen them though.
