Still don't know whether or not im going to have it in the kitchen. Depends what the old man says!

Stocking wise, i'm looking at a male Betta with some shrimp. Then maybe some small bottom dwellers and some small dithers for mid water.

Will probably start filling up tonight or tomorrow.

I've already got some Rotala rotundifolia and some Rotala wallichil for in their. I might stick some Cabomba or something along the back, as it's growing well in the 55gal.

Well i've got the tank filled up now, decided to have it in the kitchen. Looks pretty good, something to look at in there.
Here is the substrate I used, the guy MA said it was pretty good. I didn't know whether or not to for a layer of gravel over the top? But for now it looks fine, so i'll leave it.

As you can see I have built the substrate up from the far back corner. Because the tank will be visible from a slant rather than parrarel to the wall, I wanted to scape it diagonally. Don't know what to add as the main feature of the tank? Wood or a rock?

Obviously I will seed my filter with existing sponges and media from a filter running on a mature tank, but, all the water in this tank is brand new tap water, dechlorinated. Will it be okay for the fighter to go in straight away or should I let the water 'age?' for a few days?

Stock wise, I came across some 'Mountain Rock Shrimp' in MA yesterday which I really liked. I couldn't get a whole lot of info on the web and user experiance. So does anyone know much about these? What I do know is they can grow to around 12cm? Which is a nice size for a shrimp. Considering some of these rather than smaller shrimp species like Cherries.

I think a nice piece of bogwood would look great, make sure it's tall but not too big though.

Personally i would go with rock, with that slope you could get a really nice nature scape out of this tank.

I'm also using Monado in my next scape, i have used it before and it's OK, but that was in a nano.

Have you seen the Seiryu stone? It's used in a lot of Amanos scapes, there's a chap selling it in our sales section. I bought some the other day from him and its top quality stuff mate. It's normally really expensive as well.

Seriously, why isn't this in the Planted journal section?

I don't see any reason why the fighter can't go into the tank right away, unless there's an issue with the substrate (leaching ammonia, etc).

Cheers Ian, looks like nice stuff, might be a possible investment for me! Remember the hair grass in the 55 I had around the rocks? I was thinking possibly something similar to that. Grass around a rock. Have you got the rock in a setup yet Ian? Would love to see a picture!

These are quite specialised shrimp (if these are the ones you mean), they filter feed. I had some for a few months, this is the amount of time they normally last in a community setting.

Ahh, in that case I think I might go for some Cherries or something similar. There seems to be quite a few people selling them on the classified section at the minute.

I'm seeing more CRS at the moment in LFS's. It may be worth getting a few of these as well. They are a little more expensive, but they also beed like cherries, so they can pay for themselves.
