Im new here... and just wanna say WUS UP

I have a 10 gallon tank wit a whisper power filter.

the water parameters are:

temperater= 80 degrees F
nitrite= .5
hardness= 150
chlorine= 0
Alkalinite= 30
ph= 7
nitrate= 10

I have a betta with a albino cory. Unfortunately, the tank isnt completely cycled as you can see :blush:

sorry, i dont have a pic unfourtanetly. I guess my questio is... how do i tell if the cycle is finished and how can i get my nitrites to 0? 8)

Did you mean ISN'T completely cycled or were you being sarcastic?? To get your nitrites down do water changes..
My nitrite test kit only has these increments: 0; .25; .50; 1.0; 2.0; 3.0; 4.0; 5.0..
So I'm not sure how high '10' is.

Umm..o...k? I know his nitrites are 10..What I was referring to was I dont know how high that is considering my test kit only goes up to 5.0. For all I know a nitrite level of ten could be the absolute highest it can be! Thanks for clarifying that your tank ISN'T cycled yet!! :good: :hyper:
 
I don't see any questions being asked but I do have a suggestion. You should do enough water changes to get both of the ammonia and the nitrites to less than 0.25 ppm. It will save your fish some suffering while you go through the cycling process. The 10 ppm nitrates is not a problem but the nitrites are in the danger zone.

Dzdigmond you seem to be getting nitrites and nitrates confused. His NitrAtes are 10 (perfectly acceptable). His NitrItes are 0.5, which is a bit high

Blaxicanlatino I didn't see a test result for ammonia. Are you testing Ammonia? (It's important that you do).

I agree with OldMan47 about water changes
 
my test kit doenst show ammonia. last i checked at Petco, they said the ammonia was at .5 but after that i did a 50% water change yesterday and then a 10% water change today...so i dont know the current ammonia 8)
 
you should really get a test for ammonia. It's pretty much essential.

Are you using strip tests at the moment? I hear they are pretty inaccurate. You're much better off using liquid tests

the test strips i use have multiple pads 8)
