Afternoon everybody.

I only found this site yesterday after purchasing my Fluval Edge and already the amount of time I've spent here could get me sacked!!!!

I never knew keeping fish involved more than filling and feeding. Over night I've become obsessed with bacteria and ammonia! :S

Anyway I'm off to buy all the stuff Petsathome never even mentioned I needed when I bought the tank

Anyone have any thoughts on tropical vs cold ina Fluval Edge?

Cheers
Phil

Definitely tropical. I can't think of any coldwater fish I'd be happy putting into a fluval edge.

Have fun cycling :) by the sounds of it you're going fishless? If so (and if you go down the tropical route), then kick the heater up to 30C as this will speed the whole process up.

Personally I would never buy a fluval edge, for the price and taking into account maintenance etc I'd always go for a standard shape tank. However if it's design you like then probably opt for an arcadia arc tank or similar.
However, good luck and I hope you enjoy it. Once you've decided on tropical vs coldwater we can help you stock it if you want :)

Tropical!

I think I would heavily plant it, add loads of small shrimp (like red cherry shrimp) and a trio of sparkling gouramis.

You doing a fishless cycle? I definitely approve of the  smiley, very apt for P@H *runs away before the P@H bashing gets nasty*

I was thinking coldwater as this is my first attempt at keeping fish and its one less this to think about but in or a penny and all that. Think I'll order the heater and I can always decide then.

Yeah I'm doing a fishless cycle as I'm still researching what would be ideal in there. So any help on stocking would be greatly appreciated. I'm thinking some bright Microrasboras and a few shrimp at the minute.

Tropical is no harder than coldwater - only difference is a heater! Each type of fish has their own skill level needed for care but it's not as though tropicals are, as a group, harder than coldwater.

Microrasboras and shrimp :good:
