New Fluval 405

Can only see one size sponge on sale online , anyone know the part number or what ever, as there are 2 different sizes as far as i can see.
looking at advice: thinking of 2 lots of rings ( with filter)in 2 sections , 1 lot of pro substate (from old filter)
should i add sponge from old filter for a while ?
i think space for media is more than my 2073?

will this be enough and what u suggest for 4th section.

or am i on the wrong track?

will adding the rings x2(2 sections) and pro substate slow the flow badly.

do i need foam /wool apart from what comes with filter.

also whats best rings or pro substat ?

Is it replacing the old filter or is it running a different tank?

If replacing the old filter then you will need to use as much media from the old one as possible.

If seeding the 405 for use on another tank then you will need to only add about 1/3 from the old filter otherwise you will cause a mini cycle with the old filter.

I setup 405s: standard foam in vertical slide-in cartridge. 4 trays: bottom tray: fine mechanical/polishing media (either Fluval's or polyester pillow stuffing crammed in as tight as possible). Other three trays: biomedia (I suggest Seachem Matrix if yo;u are buying any, any free biomedia you have (from old filter, included with new 405, etc.) is fine).

thanks sounds good, i have a thick blue sponge from 2073 or some new fine pads by fluval but there thin really .

if i want to change media how long does it take for bacteria to be up to the required level.
I intend to change my current filter media by adding a tray of pro ethasubstat instead of Eheim Mech Pro Mechanical Filter Media with Spiral Shapes media.
would that be ok currently :
Eheim Substrat Pro (round ) - Biological Filter Media.
Eheim bioMech Mechanical (flat stone like)

This is ready to move to a fluval 405.
