New Fish Dieing!?

so should i do another water change now then to clean up the water?

The cloudy water is likely a bacteria bloom. The caurse? Could be anything  Don't worry too much about it, but feel free to waterchange if you like :good:

The good thing is Ammonia has now gone, so that's a positive. It should also make treating the White Spot easier if it stays at zero, allong with NitrIte, as you won't need a waterchange of the course of treatment if they don't move up :good:

All the best
Rabbut

should i continue to do a daily water change to make sure the ammonia level doenst come back?

I'd sit on it for now, it should clear up as fast as it formed. If Ammonia comes back, then get onto some waterchanges :good:

ok ill carry on checking my water daily and see what happens :)

yesterdays test results are as follows

Ammonia 0ppm
PH 7.6
High PH 7.8
Nitrite 0ppm
Nitrate 0ppm

looking good now. they all seem to be swimming about more aswell.

If your ammonia and nitrite are at zero 2 days after the last large water change, that is encouraging. The nitrate test may be a bit suspect since ammonia and nitrites ultimately become nitrates. Do you have so many plants in the tank that it looks like a jungle in there? Plants can remove considerable nitrogen when they are dense and growing vigorously. Otherwise, I suspect you are not doing the nitrate test quite right. The instructions that tell you to shake the bottle well very much need to be followed if not exceeded. The mixing of test chemicals for the nitrate test are very important and many people will advise you to double the times they recommend in order to get good enough mixing.

oki well what ill do is ill do another one either tonight or morro and ill shake the bottle. or wang it in the tumble dryer to give it a shake then try again ! maybe im not shaking enough, im not shaking so my arm drops off but giving it a bit of a flick lol

Sorry but you do need need to shake it till it feels like your arm is dropping off. Not sure of the effect of heat on the chemicals, perhaps the tumble dryer is not the best idea, it won't really be vigorous enough either. I had the same problem when I first started using the test.

sorry was only joking about the tumble dryer lol ill give it a good shake later on :)

aswell there is no living plants in there atm. was gonna wait till it all settled in before i put any in. would you recommend putting some in now anyways?

right ok. newbie alert. after a reet good shake a retest!

levels are as follows.

Ammonia - 0.25 :( its crept back up
Nitrate - between 20 & 40 ppm
Nitrite - between 0 & 0.25 ppm
High PH 7.8

smeg! if only i had read the distructions properly. lol

OK, waterchange time. The bloom is evidently causing an ammonia+nitirte spike after all  Somewhere arround 30% would be a good start

oki dokie. thanks alot mate, ill do that before i go to bed! :)

did about 30% change yesterday
tonights test results!

Ammonia more towards 0 than 0.25
Nitrate 20-40ppm
Nitrite 0ppm
High PH 7.8
