I've also noticed another problem tonight. I ordered a new digital thermometer recently ( as my old one died a while ago) which arrived today, I have found that for some reason my heater even though set at 32 was only taking the tank up to 27.7 even with my central heating set to melting furness temps all day

How much wattage is your heater? Maybe for the amount of water you have, this is the most it can do...

Btw: your fish are privately insured, aren't they! Having a 180 litre suite for hospital space....

Sorry for the late reply. Here goes, you tank requires 0.25g/L over the space of 3 days... Your tank is 180L so that's 45L divided by 3 (3days) = 15g/day. Or... 1 tablespoon = 18g or salt so you will need 0.8 of a tablespoon a day or rounded up to 1 tablespoon per day. try not to do water changes during this time.
