New Chocolate Tomorrow !

Well, I've decided on getting a new chocolate cichlid, as a main feature in my new 500 litre tank.
My two larger severums are going to live in the 300 litre, hopefully to breed.
THe 500 litre will house my two uaru (plus maybe a third ?) and this new chocolate cichlid.I'm going to split my two A.heckelii between the two tanks.
The choccy is only about 2" at the moment, but I expect some quick growth.
I actually went in to the LFS to buy the choccy today, but they couldn't actually catch him/her. It was in their display tank and they were unwilling to take it apart to catch it.
So, anyway, I was very amenable and they said they would try and catch it by tomorrow, and put it in a separate tank for me to collect. So hopefully by tomorrow morning they will have captured the fish and it will be on the way to my house , to meet some new friends !

Oh exciting!

Actually, I really like the Chocolates. Very nice purpley red fins, and much better in real life than the photos you often see.

I was very tempted by one last week, but walked away... Was quite proud of myself

Anywa, fingers crossed they catch the fish (sounds a fiesty one!) and photos tomorrow please

They are stunning mate, I have a full grown <i think> had it from a weee babie and two plus years later it seems to have stopped growing, very peaceful with what i have kept it with,but wont take any bugging from anything,stands its ground perfect...I highly reccomend these beautys.....

Well, he's here !

Settled in amazingly quickly. I think he's going to be a really confident, interactive fish, from the look of things so far.
The others seem to have accepted him so far. Bruce (my dominant male sev) has let him know who's boss in his own way, and the chocolate was not going to argue about it. He's only about 2.5" at the moment.
His name is Biff. Here's a pic of day one in the tank.

These guys are ace, mine seems to be such a personable character, and dare i say it, even more than my Severum
Mine reminds me so much of an Oscar and they certainly have similar growth rates from what i have seen so far

Agreed with you daveo...yours looks stunning, notice how when you see a picture of these guys they always seem to stike the staring at the surface pose...love it

Davo - your chocolate looks superb. I just love that "swam into the back of a bus" flat faced look ! They look so tough, and yet are generally so laid back.

They are so cute when young. Yours looks great. The more I see these guys the more I like them. The felmales I think look the best because I'm not a fan of the head humps. But all and all a very Nice fish hope they get along .

Your stock Is kind of like mine 2 uaur and a true parrot. But insted of the parrot you have a chocolate And they are like the parrot. How long is the tank? You say 500l that's like 132gal.
