having new carpet fitted which my rio 180 sits upon !!!!! any ideas on the best way of moving tank thanks in advance

Empty about 50% of the water and get someone to help you carry it. Treat it like a water change

i use to get the carpet fitters
to fit the carpet around it

Buy yourself a really large plastic tub from a DIY store (they are really cheap) and put fish and plants in and run the heater and filter in the tub as well. That way you can keep most of the water and completely drain the tank to move it .Disgard any water you cant fit in the tub and when you refill it will be like a water change.

With everything up and running in the tub you can leave them all in there for a few days while you get your carpet fitted and room back to normal and take your time re-doing the tank again.
