New Bottom Feeders

hi all

i recently bought 2 new bottom feeders for my tank - i think the are pleco catfish, someone may advise me other wise from pic below!

problem being they rarely move since i added them to the tank, and i dont know if its because something is wrong..they dont even move when i put food in the tank (dried flakes) there are 6 other fish living quite happily in the tank 2 of which i have had 2-3 years! so i am assuming the water quality cant be at fault? i am waiting on ph strips to be delivered to test the water..

can any one maybe advise on other potential issues with these fish - or maybe this is normal for them?

They're probably still settling in. Are you feeding sinking pellets also? I doubt very much if they would come to the surface to feed.

i hope so

no im waiting on the sinking pellets to come as well but i thought they would of been searching around the bottom for food at this stage!

How long have they been in your tank?

this is the 3rd full day, i bought 2 blue rams at the same time and they are a little shy but fine!

Don't worry about it, they are just settling into a new environment. Wierd is that I have had a few bottom feeder and they seem to take the longest to adjust. My algea eater was just like yours and than a week later he was sucking everything from left to right.

My Otto's did a 4 day pause before adjusting to the new tank even though when I changed them to the larger tank from the small one they didn't seem phased they went back to what they were doing

hope mine are the same hmongol!

ok sounds like im worried about nothing at the moment!

ill get my water tested over the weekend and hopefully by then the pellets will have arrived as well

my blue rams are heading butting each other as i type! :hyper:
