As far as I know it is something some bettas are just born with. It just means he is mostly if not completely blind in that eye.

Ah, poor guy! I have a completely blind cat who gets along just fine though, so I'm sure a fish with one good eye won't have any issues. It's a good thing for him that you came along though!

Is it definitely a scale? looks like cloud eye to me. I don't think he is dragon, there scales are more 'shiny' I have only found Dragons to have the scale over the eye problem

Sorry to but in but I'm interested in the eye-scale problem in dragons. I've had my dragon (silver white body, dark red fins) for 16 months. His eyes were quite normal when I got him, but one eye is now completely covered with silver white and the other eye is partially covered - it looks a bit like a lizard's eye. He definitely can't see out of the covered eye so I have to make sure I drop his food in on the other side or it takes him ages to find it. I'm also very careful not to move the decor round in this tank, a 25 litre he shares with a bee nerite snail.

Do I understand correctly that dragons do have a problem with their eyes, and that this is what's possibly the problem with mine? I'll have to see if I can get a photo of him.

the scales on dragons are that thick *hense there name* that as they grow so do there scales and take up any 'free' space so if you have a heavily scaled dragon chances are as it matures it will get scales over the eyes :(

Hmm I posted a pic of him on a diff forum that specializes in bettas as I was wondering if his eye had problems and they said it was nothing to worry about and just a scale growing over his eye.

Alright thanks for the info on the dragonscale, i didnt think so but I did notice his scales seemed more pronounced then most others I had seen and didn't know what defined a dragonscale.
Another pic of his eye.

And the pic I showed them that they said it was just scaling, was while he was being acclimated.

i would of expected it to be the same colour if it was scaling, can i post a pic on my FB betta page? see what they think, a lot of good knowlegdable people in there :)

Of coarse, not sure if you can link other forums or not so I wont link the forum where they told me it is scaling. It does not seem to slow him down, thuogh i have yet to see him eat anything he looks like a nice thick betta.

This is a good pic for comparing the two eyes,(supplying direct link as well in case you wanted to post that to your betta page.

theres quite a size difference isn't there! another reason making me think cloud/popeye, its only on FB so will get some up and let you know whats said :)

110% certain that he's not a dragon!!! This is not dragon scaling over his eye  It definitely looks like cloudy eye to me and this can be sorted out fairly quickly/easily with meds :)
