I just cleaned it and it's sparkling again. She's a great mum. She heards them from one end of the tank to the other and is very attentive .

They look great! Good job on gettig them to breed. Would you reconmend using ebay to get fish? I saw u posted the link to the person you got urs off. Ive got a spare tank and thanks to mint hes got me thinking about breeding apistogrammas in my spare tank. And after seeing your couple im getting more and more interested lol

I would recommend eBay very much so, Especially the guy I got mine from. Brilliant service

I saw these fish in abyss in stockport and they were £15.99 each or 3 for £45 but they were abit expensive. I fell in love and went looking on eBay for them. The ones in the shop were a lot smaller than my 2

A short video of mum dad and babies

They have grown abit. All is fine but I'm having trouble counting them as she has them behind a rock

This is such a great success story! We bought a harlem (1 male, 3 females) of Apistogramma Agassizi 3 months ago and no sign of breeding yet. Unfortunately one of the females passed away a while ago but the other three are doing great - they are however quite territorial. Maybe we need to get some slate like you have, our tank currently only has 2 caves (but it is well planted and has several pieces of wood)...

She used the cave a few times but tends to just herd them around the tank and keep them out of display all the time. She is an excellent mother and dad is very good too. She chases away any fish that comes near her but let's the male get close. We have 14 babies and some are much larger than others . They are getting very adventurous now, dad even babysits the ones that wander away from mum

She stayed in yes but used to stick her head out every minute or so. She did dig inside to make the bottom of the cave deeper but didnt touch the entrance.
Dad didn't have anything to do with the eggs but he is very involved with the babies now. He carries them in his mouth sometimes if they wander off

I wonder if the femles have dug inside and pushed the gravel to the entrance by accident but they are not staying in the cave so possibly not how are the fey coming along ?

I have a mixed community so she was very wary. She would come out for food then dart back in. If other fish came close she would go for them. Mine are doing great, I have about 14 as she didn't have many eggs ( only about 30) some are quite big and others are very tiny. They are very adventurous now but mum and dad are both very involved. They are on liquifry 4 times a day although I've ever seen them eat anything lol.

So just a little check in to say all is going well and I think I have around 10 heathly baby apistogramma mixing in the tank with the harlequins and cories. I have to say I feel exceptionally lucky to have had a successful spawn at first time of trying and considering I only had them for a week. Mum and dad are still looking after the babies and chasing away fish that come near. Last week though I made the mistake of replacing a piece of wood that kept growing fur on it. The mother seemed to get quite irate at the male and they had a physical fight ( locking lips) and he began flaring a lot at his reflection in the glass. It didn't last long and they were back to being friends and looking after the kids the next morning.

Babies are getting quite big now and I'm feeding on baby powdered flake now
