New Algae In My Tank

Hello everybody,

Was wondering if someone can help me with a newly formed algae in my tank.
I came back from a 5 days hollidays and my daughter looked after my tank (she usually does and up til now everythings always been fine.
when i came back i'd lost one of my biggest shrimp and 2 days ago i noticed that there is some kind of white beige ish groth on one of my plastic plant, its full of little mini balls type of things and my cherry barbs seams to be very territorial of it.
Any clue what it could be?

Sounds like eggs to me, especially if the barbs seem to be guarding it.

Oh my god, im going to be a baby fish granny, what do i do, i am absolutely clue less...

Hi there,
Thanks to those who kindly try to help.
I am afraid thought that we had it wrong cos nothing is happening in my tank at the moment; so i have attached a picture of what i'm talking about.

Please note that this "algae" only develop on this plant and nothing else, also i do not have female Cherry barb so it can't be their eggs.
They are still hovering a lot in this plant though.

Can you describe them any more? The picture isn't nearly clear enough to make anything out, sorry. Barbs eat their own eggs (and others) veraciously so it wont be fish eggs, do you have any snails? Have you tried cleaning the plant?

Can you test the water? With a dead shrimp recently I'm thinking it could possibly be a type of mould.

Thanks for your help, i will try to load a better picture.
I haven't tried to clean the plant just in case it was eggs, but this has appeared within the last week no more.
if you look at the plant, its leaves make some kind of cup, the balls type is resting in the cups and The Mould/algae type thing is kind of covering it.

I never had snails in this tank and its last fish have been added about 8 month ago so i don't know where they could come from; but you never know??

I dont know how the picture things work but i'll try my best.

Sounds like bits of mouldy food tbh, will check back for updated pic .

Yup, from the pic its bits of food and/or poop with mould growing out of them.

Give the plant a good scrub under tap water .

The ammonia from this hidden debris in the tank was probably the death of the shrimp, make sure you give the tank a good clean to make sure no more is hidden elsewhere!
