I have a 29 US Gallon tank. I know for certain we are having atleast a 55 gallon tank added by end of this year.
I have a few CA Cichlids.
Actually plan to get one or two more tuesday. But am getting rid of some too.

2x Cryptoheros sp. "Honduran Red Point", Male: 4" Female: 3"
1x Archocentrus nigrofaciatus, Unknown gender: 0.5"
30x Cryptoheros sp. "Honduran Red Point", 0.5"-1.25"
1x Cryptoheros nanoluteus, Male?: 1"
7x Garnet Tetras
9x Serpae Tetras
7x American Flag Fish
3x Mollies
1x Gambusia
2x Tiger Nerite Snails
3x Ramshorn Snails
2x BN

Might get rid of all but 5 baby Cryptoheros sp. "Honduran Red Point"
Might get another Cryptoheros nanoluteus, at 1"
Also might get a Cryptoheros sajica or 2, at 2.5"
maybe, if I have enough money, a Cichlasoma bocourti, at 3"

I know this will seem overstocked, and it may be. I have been doing real tight W/Cs lately.

It does sound very overstocked. One has to consider whether you are giving the fish an environment where they can thrive, or simply one in which they can merely survive.

I'd say wait until you've got another, or a bigger, tank.

Get that 55 gallon now or move some fish out if my simple advice

I had much less than half of that in my 33USG and was having agression problems until I moved them all into a 5ft'er...best thing I ever did. In hind sight I should have just got the 5ft'er to being with

I assume the 2 adult HRPs are breeding too? They ought to have that whole tank to themselves...

Also, be careful putting different sexes of different CA cichlids in there together, they might breed and produce hybrid fry which you won't be able to re-home easily.

You are very lucky to be able to get hold of yellow convicts (Cryptoheros nanoluteus), quite hard to come by, if I were you I would turn that tank into a breeder for them with nothing else in there except a few top dwellers...they're lovely fish and thier fry will sell well, they're on the ACA care list

I know it'll be overstocked, but I can try till I get the 55 us Gallon.
I wish I could get the nanoluteus spawning tank. Only problem is the oringinal 8 were all supposed males.
I do see problems but, I always have my tanks well decorated, full of nooks and crannies.
My HRP babies all have their own maybe 5 inch piece of rock work or wood they have claimed.
plus these guys will grow up together. Only problem is if my Baby Black Con is a male.
I like medium sized CA Cichlids.

ahhhhh  !!! I don't care if you do WC every hour. That is way over stocked. It's not just about poor water quality its about stress from other fish/ constant harassment. In that small of a tank, with that many fish, there no way they will be able to set up territories. So constant fights will happen till only the strong survive. Do you really want that kind of tank?

Even in a 55 gal that is way over stocked.

PLease rethink your stocking and only get the fish you really love.

@SBL
Please take our advice seriously if you take fish keeping seriously

Our only concerns in situations like this are the fish, everything else goes out of the window, it should be everyone's number 1 priority when entering this hobby ;)
I think if you can't get a new tank very very soon then you really need to offload some of those fish somewhere, advertise though this forum, you might even be able to get some money back and you'll know they've gone to good homes. Worst case your LFS will likely take them off you for nothing.

I didnt get anything except 6 plecs that are going into pond when they fatten up.
I wasn't gonna get anything cause I lost $20 by accident. Plus, they sold all the nanoluteus and sajica and bocourti were too expensive, $14.99 each, and I didnt have alot, spent only $10 on plecs.
Didn't have a chance to take any HRP babies.
I see you guys points. I will take it.
