Neons Dieing

have a fluvel edge tank,lost 5 neons that i bouhtthey was ok till i put some new plants in was woundering if this could have killed them off,the only other fish ilost was a female guppy a few days after she hadher fry.i washed my plants but noticed a lot off snails turning up,i took them out as soon as i saw them as anybody any ideas what caused the neons to die they all died with in 2 weeks of each other and could anybody tell me if there is anything you can do with new plants ie soak them in anything b4 putting them in the tank to get rid off any snails that mite be on them,thank you from keith.

how long have you had your tank? neons are known to be very fragile. and please, next time put periods at the ends of your sentences! i can hardly read anything without periods!

I hope you are an experienced keeper or have been given good advice, but the combination of Fluvel Edge and neon tetras suggests otherwise.

I guess your tank is not cycled yet. Or your water pH is too alkaline. Do you know what your ammonia, nitrite or nitrate level is?

I would take a sample of your water to a local Aquarium specialist & have it tested.
They will give you advice on what to do to resolve the issue aswell.

You can self-test if you have a master kit or similar.

You may find your Nitrate or Nitrite level is too high.

You can get chemicals to help with this, but frequent water changes may help.

How often do you do water changes?

I would get this sorted quickly too.
