Neon Tetra

hi, im new here but have had my 12 gallon tropical tank set up for about 4-5 months now and is running great. i started with 2 mollys and 2 catfish and one molly saddly died. i then added 5 neon tetra after 2 weeks and then 2 honey gouramis. i have two live plants with a few fake, some rocks and some pebles, there plenty of hiding places for them but recently the neon tetras are hiding alot and only come out to eat. one sometimes comes out, swims around and hides again.
could you tell me the reason for this?

Hi keeton and welcome to the forum.

Hiding is often a sign of stress. The other fish aren't really a threat so it could be water issues. Have you tested the water to make sure you don't have an issue with ammonia or nitrite?

i had a water test done at my local fish shop a few weeks ago and everything was fine, but that was before they started hiding, so i'll get another test done asap.
