Needle Nose Gar

I have been reading different requirements for tank size for these fish. I have a 55 gallon tank (nothing in it yet) and was wondering if that was too small.

Yep, too small. I'd say something along the lines of a 5x2 is good as these fish are very skittish.

this isnt related but ive seen alligator gar reaching 110''....is this considered a tank buster?

Wow. Fishbase says the max size recorded in the wild is 40 cm. I think you're thinking of a different species.

And nope I meant inches. A 55g is too small but a 5"x2" tank would fit the 12 inch fish quite nicely I would think.
