next weekend hopefully i am getting a new tank and it will 95l and i want a plec i have always loved them and my mate used to ahve one and it grew huge and he had to get rid of it. and i dont want that to happen to me. i already have 5 zebra danios and 2 female guppys. (also have 13 baby guppys aged 3 days lol but theres a very very little chance they will be going in this tank.) i have bogwood for my new tank. and im thinking of getting a bristle nose plec? they stay small dont they? will they be okay in this size tank?

at the most the stocking will probs be

1 bristle nose plec
5 zebra danios (want another 5)(so 10 in total)
2 female guppys (want a male so will have 3 guppys in total)
(want to get about 5-10 cardinal tetras)
(and maybe 5-10 other small tertas)
that will be at the most.

if thats to much i want my 5 zebra danios my 2 female guppys (a new male guppy) and 5-10 cardinal tertas and a bristole nose plec. will this be okay?

are they easy to care for? dont want anything to hard i no there messy fish just dont want anything that can die easy. if there is a better plec for my tank please recommend!

thank you!

have you considered any of the other small plecs something a bit different like leopard frog pleco, chocolate zebra pleco, sultan pleco BN plecos are great but everyman and his dogs got 1

hi, i'd get more of one species of tetra rather than mixing species, as they look a lot better in a big group.

cheers :good:

bn's don't grow too large and are excellent algae eaters. I breed longfin bn's are they are stunning! They feed on algae wafers, bloodworm, courgette and cucumber.

Smaller than a bn would be a clown pleco. I never see mine though and they don't bother with the algae!

there are other smallish plecos, but not all are easy to obtain. bn's are very easy to find in most local aquatic stores.

Maidenhead Aquatics sell BN plecos, the common color (£3.50) and albinos (£12)

You can get longfin albino bn's on e-bay from £3.00! I wouldn't want to pay £12 for a standard albino! The price for a standard bn sounds good though.

See, I thought they were cute but I wouldn't pay £12 either

I personally would rather pay the 12 quid for a standard than buy a man-made variant for 3 quid.

The cheaper ones on ebay want you to pick up  naturals I think are nicer than hybrids :good:

fair enough! the same seller has standard albino bn's for a buy it now price of £2.50

Personally I love my 'manufactured hybrids'
