Need Good Excuses

im 18 and i just went out and bought a tank, its in my room and i payed for it with money i earned...at first she was skeptical but now she pops in to check the fish out on her way to bed

sounds like your mom likes fish too. So I don't see why it would be hard to talk her into letting you have a bigger tank.
Tell her you would love it if you could put a tank together with her. You could both agree on the type of fish to keep. It could be a good way to bound.I would love to put a tank together with my daughter once she is older.

all i did was tell my missus we could have better fish and more of them . and hey presto we ordered a bigger tank.

Tried that, almost worked. Just got sofa's in our new place, once the flatscreens in I'm going to point out how a 5 foot tank would really fill the alcove better than the 180 is now...

Or the local canal gets a new addition, depending on the mother.

Realistically, if you want to persuade her you have to show a) its practical - theres a place for it, you can afford to buy and comfortably kit it out...and that its not just a phase.

How long have you been keeping fish now? The longer it goes on without you losing interest the more likely she is to say yes.
