Need Desperate Help!

My 20 gallon which contains one male dwarf gourami, has gone completely cloudy it has been like this for 2 weeks now, I thought it was a bacteria bloom and thought it would go away.
I have cleaned the sand, the filter is a fluval U2, it has an airstone, the cloudiness will not go away.

Any ideas on how?

What about water changes (how many and how much)? And what are your water parameters?

I do 25% every 7 days, 60% once a month, Parameters are - Ammonia 0 , Nitrite - 0 , Nitrate 20

i would do water changes. also when my tank gets cloudy i use a product called Accu-clear, by API. works good.

What color is your cloudiness? If it has a greenish tint, cut back on the lighting somewhat and let it clear itself.

Its more of a cloudy whiteish color, like someone poured milk into it.

I had this problem and was advised not to do a water change,as this can make it worse.it did go after about 2 weeks with no water change or chemicals.if your plants are in good condition i have herd that they will end up taking all the nutrients from the (what i assume is) algae.im no expert,just what i have found works for me,it may not work for you,got to be worth a try!

I've had what sounds like the same issue ... I described it in exactly the same way (like milk had been poured in there) I was advised it was more than likely a bacterial bloom but you think your's isn't.

I did several large water changes to clear it. It took a while but it did clear
