Nd Aquatics

so im gonna be getting the 5 foot set up they currently sell for £466. my question is if anyone has bought off nd aquatics before and if they recommend them. also did you purchase the light fittings off them or buy seperate for cheaper? so which light fitting and bulbs will i need for this set up.?

my 4x2x2 is from nd aquatics. i highly reccomend them , both for their quality and their customer service. for example i recently found some unexplained damage on my tank , so i emailed them and without any hesitation at all they said they will replace the tank .

i didnt buy my lightsetc from them tho as i could get that stuff cheaper on warehouse aquatics

thanks for the reply. so i assume u bought the hinged lid aswell? which light set up did u get for that and did it fit well??? what damage did u find. also can i ask of what quality is the cabinets they provide. thank u again

Very keen price, easy to talk to and nothing's so far gone wrong. I bought based on markandhisfish's recommendation summer last year.

Unless their staff have significantly changed they one partner of the company builds your cabinet and the other will build your tank. They take turns at deliveries. Let them know if you want anything specific like extra holes for access.

the tropical tanks come with the "hinged lid" ( im assuming you mean the hood) as standard . the cabinet quality is very good . solidly made with nice big cupboards , you even get a sheet of polystyrene to sit the tank on . altho i would advise against black , which i got. it really shows any marks etc and im always cleaning it!. the damage was a chip at the bottom of the glass , nothing major , still watertight . i only emailed to ask what was best to rectify it and they offered a replacement as the tank was still just about under warranty ( which is 2 years) .

is this the standard beech colour they use on their standard tanks? also did u have a choice on the cabinet with the central shelves

ok so ive been intouch with nd and the reply was fast and sound. the setup i will be getting is a 5 foot/60" by 2 foot by 2 foot. the lights they recommend are 60" 58w t8s. do you think in this set up i could use 48" 38w tubes instead as the tank is only 60" long so surely 60" tubes will be too long.

also they will black out the back panel of glass for £30. is this a good price as ive heard getting black background for this size tank being problematic.

lighting requirements is really dependant on what kind of setup you want. if youre going planted you will want a good amount of light . less so if youre not. for example in my 4x2x2 discus tank i only use 1 42" 38w tube , as i dont need much light , so its really horses for courses. you could probably paint the outside of the back panel yourself cheaper with blackboard paint .
