Mystery Leak In Large Tank -Help Please

Please help -mystery leak is driving me crazy!
The large 4ft outdoor tank where I keep my goldfish suddenly sprung a leak overnight and I found my poor goldies swimming in 12 cms of water. The larger ones had their dorsal fins sticking out of water like sharks. Luckily I manged to transfer them all to a large indoor tank immediately and they all survived. The leak stopped after 24hrs leaving about 10cms of water which remained in the tank all winter. Last week I empltied out the tank and cleaned it, then half filled with water. It immediately started leaking badly until water reached precisely the same level then sthe leak topped.

Can't understand what#s going on but must sort htis out before moving my goldfish outdoors for the summer. No signs of any cracks on tank bottom and sealant on sides looks intact. If the sealant or bottom is damaged surely it will keep on leaking until it is empty. Why does the leak stop when 10cm of water is left in the tank and resume leaking if more water is added?

I've bought some aquarium sealant but not sure what to do.

Could be the pressure from any additional water spreads the seam apart just enough to start leaking. Wrap the tank in a layer of paper and slowly add water until you see the paper getting wet. There's your leak.

Oh, that is genius. I've had many leaky tanks over the years and have never thought of that!!!
