Ever since setting up my 300 had no end of problems

First off i had a duff heater stick on all night lost 90% of my mature fish sorted it all out 2 new 200w heaters later I started slowly re-stocked over 2 months then i had a bad dose of white spot after 3 rounds of protozin and 2 of king British WS3 it finally cleared (Rip. 2 clown loach, 2 coolies, 2 rams and 1 angel)

Roll on last week over the space of 3 days i lost 15 fish water stats are fine (api master test kit) So i set my spare tank (just happen i had a spare mature filter on my 180) transfered my fish what i had left to the small tank and striped the 300 down. When i first set the tank up i fitted the juwel terracing and back filled it this was the key to my problem. anyhoo..........................

After a lot of head scratching finally work out what was causing the problem (actually the smell hit me) the gravel behind the terracing didn't have any water flow and the water had stagnated causing the bacterial build up. water test readings have been A ok since day one what was confusing me. 6 hours of back breaking work later and 60 kg of substrate cleaned and sifted and the tank scrubbed out. I finally put it all back together and filled it back up yay.

Needless to the the juwel terracing got taken out and binned (took an hour to take out as i did too good a job fitting it)

As it took 6 hours i kippered my filter so back to square one breeding my filter bactieria back up

On the up side in my other tank i have preg mollies and platties and cory's that are spawning everywhere

The joys of fishkeeping lol.

At least you have healthy fish spawning in other tanks which is always good news :good:
