My Platies Just Arnt Breeding

Yes this does mean you will get fry soon, well in about 25 days or so? keep giving your fish live foods such as daphnia, brine shrimp and bloodworms. (The usual) once every other day and she will breed happily. This will also condition all the other fish in the tank to want to breed if you have any others. Obviously, the level of ease of breeding depends on the type of fish, but platys will breed easilly through doing that.

dear lord give us strength in our hour of need platyfanatic, im surprised you got anytime to look at your fish with the amount of typing you do, you must be a whizz at typing ive never seen someone get so excited with platy breeding.................that is since i first saw mine anyway
no the male rarely misses the target

anyway yes i am a whizz at typing, and are you crazy, i spend hours of time with my fish when i am not on this forum lol.
anyway so glad that they cannot miss.

I have a question do you have any other males even from other type of fish maybe guppies? I dont know if guppies can breed with platys but they will try anyway so that will give competition. some times the males will compete if there is another male they will get jealous of each other and encouraging them to mate . If there is another male the platy male will say "hey this is my girl get off" and he will try to mate with her to show that he is the ALPHA MALE. Another sighn that she is pregnant is that if you have another male they will be poking at her lower area to see if their his babies. And if their not his babies he will be constantly checking if she is going to give birth so he can eat the babies of his rival This is why you have to have hidding spots epecially so the male doesnt eat the fry. so if any of that is happening than you know you will be getting some fry!

nope i only have one male in the tank and he hasnt been sniffing around her at all really.
anyhow i have noticed that the female is getting a bit fatter.
i have also added a 2 live plants now for the fry to hide in.

Lol you wouldnt believe how excited i am lol.
Now she is getting pretty fat, so little fry come to dadda,lol.
