I'm thinking of getting a second tank as my first one is too small.

I am looking around 120cmx40cmx50cm roughly so it should be a decent size.

I was just wondering if I would need 2 heaters for a tank this size, and also would I need CO2 for my plants?

The other thing is the fish. I would like....

1 Red Tailed Black Shark
3/4 Clown Loach
6/8 Tiger Barbs
6/8 Corydoras

Would these fish be compatible?

Many thanks in advance.

A single 200watt heater should do that tank without any problems. Unless of course the tank is outside or in a really cold room, in which case a second heater would act as a back up should something happen to one.

Those fishes should be fine. Make sure there are plenty of hiding places, wood etc because there are a lot of bottom dwellers in the group.

Sorry but I disagree with the stocking. Clown Loaches can grow to just under 20cm so will probably be too big for your tank. Everything else seems okay though.

Thanks guys,

I may have to drop the Clown Loaches then? Any alternative suggestions?

Clown loaches can grow from 12" to 16", by the way.
And I suggest either researching all your choices, or search 'fish compatibility' in google, as many places discourage bottom feeders and tiger barbs/red tailed sharks. (http://www.timstropicals.com/Compatibility/CompatibilitySearch.asp)

But this knowledge I've just told you is all based on internet information, it's only been 4 months since I bought my first tropical.
Oh and importantly, if you decide to get a red tailed shark make sure your tank has a lid as they CAN jump and I have read many storys about this...

You will need to be careful with your stocking because of the tiger barbs. They are very pretty fish but can be tigers when it comes to their relations with other fish. Your 65 gallon tank will be plenty big enough for the stocking but be sure the fish you can can tolerate or return the aggression from the tiger barbs. My wife loves those guys but my own preferrences run to more peaceful fish so I don't have them any more. Most live bearers make good mid to upper level fish but it really depends on what you like. I am certain your tank and mine will never look the same and neither of us would really want them to. The aquarium should reflect the owner not some abstract ideal tank.

you can try Botia lohachata or B. sidthimunki instead of clown loaches.

ruby barbs. They look the same until they colour up then the males go black. When they aren't displeying they look like a normal tiger barb.
cherry barbs and checkered barbs are small and peaceful.

It would be nice to buy some fish that are not bottom-dwellers too. Neon Tetras would be nice with your choices, or Guppies

What about Gourami's? Would they be possible with the RTBS, Clown Loaches and Corys?
