My New Rescue, Kato!

So glad he is eating, those are the tanks all my boys are in and they are very happy. Shouldnt worry about a filter if you are doing partial water changes. You could even do a couple of cups every other day, and a full one every now and then! I agree his tail is growing. The one I rescued looks like him, tail wise, but I do hope mine gets his colour back. He had been attacked by a female betta and was in a tank of guppies when I got him, I got him for half price!

AND, I need a daily progress report on Kato...cool name!

Aww thanks guys!! Not much new to add for this afternoon. Just came back from class and there is a fairly large bubblenest going around the entire tank!! I've noticed a few things, but I don't know if they are important. He breathes pretty quickly when he is not swimming. Sometimes he rests on the bottom of the tank and his gills seem to be going overtime. Also, he's tried flaring at me a few times but his gill cover (what are they called? Just covers?) doesn't come out all the way, like he stops mid-flare. I really hope he is getting better!! I've gotten so attached to him in such a short amount of time!!!

Edit: Just checked the dimensions out on this tank and its actually almost 2 gallons, I didn't even realize lol. Maybe its not so bad after all. Just thought I'd say that

I have an idea if you want to give him a little "bed" to lay on instead of the bottom of the tank. And my boys love it.
Buy a nice, silk plant with wide-ish leaves. Wide enough for him to lay on anyways. My first betta, Shadow [RIP] [well, first in a loooonnnggg time] had a pillar I bought him and he'd sleep on it. I'll see if I can dig up old pictures to show you, they seem so relaxed when they have places to sleep.

I'm so glad he's doing better. He looks like he'll be absolutley stunning.

Kato passed this morning It didn't look like he struggled. He wasn't skinny at all so I sure hope he didn't starve to death. Thank you all so much who stayed with me through this, I really appreciate it. Most people in person were just like ok...its a fish. I jsut keep replaying in my head what could have happened. I cleaned his tank yesterday and put in a little plastic cup type thing to rest on, I washed it all really well. I really hope I didn't do this . RIP buddy. I'm sorry I couldn't make you all better

Aww...I am so sorry to hear this! I was so hoping he'd make it. Bless you though for taking him in and giving him the love and attention he deserved. You did all you could, please don't feel like it's your fault! (((hugs)))
