My New Girls Arrived Today

Been out since after lunch and only just got home. Spent all morning watching the fish like a hawk to see who I had left.

I am very pleased to say that I have 4 lovely little betta girls still swimming around (out of the 8). Two have very tucked up tail fins, and two have dark horizontal stress stripes,- but I'm hoping they will come right in a few days.

There is also a 5th girl hanging on in there, but I don't expect her to make it. She keeps looking like she's dead, but every time I go to net her she moves! I've got her in a floating fry tank within the main tank. She's not eating though and not moving at all. I tried to tempt her with some baby brine shrimp tonight but even that didn't work. I don't know what else I can do for her.

I am even more annoyed at the seller now that I have had time to see my new girls properly. I paid extra to have a guarantee that all my bettas would be different colours. Out of the 4 I have two of them are identical,- plus they are exactly the same colour as one of the ones that died yesterday! Then the one who is clinging on to life is the same colouration as another one of the ones that survived! I have not heard from the seller today, and am going to email him in a bit to let him know I am not a happy bunny!

This is awful :( I hope the ones you have pull through. I hate that the seller has done that aswel :(

Thank you :) I have complained to the seller about paying extra to ensure different colours and he has got back to me today. He says that if I look in different light I will see they are different colours. Whatever light I look at them under,- they are NOT!!! He also says that there is no way of knowing why they died and so basically it is not his responsibility. Even though they all looked half dead when I got them,- and I contacted him immediately about it! So it looks like he is going to give me back £1.50. So I have paid £24.00 for 4 fish which is twice the price I could have paid from my lfs! Plus they always sell lovely healthy ones. I just wanted to get myself some more colours

I haven't seen the surviving girls today. I know that they were hiding out in the Java fern. This takes up an awful lot of the right end of the tank, and the platy fry always hide in it to avoid being dinner. It looks like the bettas have decided they want to be in there too. My other bettas have been out and about as normal. I gave them live daphnia and baby brine shrimp for tea, but the new girls still didn't come out. I'll be keeping a close eye on the tank all evening and just hope that they are all ok.

I hope this all works out, Unfortunately its one of those situations where no one is a winner. You have to be able to see where the seller is coming from, But abit of compassion should be had towards you. And as for them being the wrong colours, Thats just down right shocking.

He SHOULD be fully paying you back, Or replacing them. End of.

Thank you :good: I would understand where the seller was coming from if it wasn't his fault, but I really feel it is as the heat pad was stone cold and the fish all looked so poorly. This all occured prior to them reaching me so I don't see how I can be held responsible in any way. I would have assumed that as a regular seller of fish on e-bay that he would have some sort of postal insurance too???

It's a lesson learned anyway!

Hi,- well I still have 4 females alive and kicking so that is good news! They don't venture out of their hiding area in the plant much,- but I'm sure they'll settle soon. :)

I reported the seller to ebay and paypal as a matter of principal as he was getter sarcastic and rude in his email responses to me. It really got my back up. I'm not worried about the money,- I wanted the fish! All I really want now is to knock his blooming block off!! The seller has said in writing that he is only prepared to refund me for the one doa (which he has now done) and says that I killed the other 3 fish (HIS WORDS!!!) and that he is not responsible for fish that died in my care in my tank! I would totally understand if I had received 8 healthy fish and then some had died after me getting them. The argument is that the fish all looked half dead upon arrival,- so how are their deaths my fault?!!

The guy is a moron and I am just sorry that the sale was conducted out of ebay as I can't leave him the negative feedback he deserves! At least I can warn people on this forum not to bother dealing with him.
