So your all saying the white foam pad isnt for trapping debri. And the black and white poly carbon isnt for stopping the crap going back into the water. And youre saying that the biomax nodes arent for the healthy bactria to live in and that you dont need the poly carbon or the biomax nodes? So your all saying that you only need foam in your filters. Hahaha. #93### #32###. And i can only be honest. She isnt gunna know what part i mean when i say. Polycarbon and biomax nodes is she!

Looking at the photo, I would give that old media a gentle but good rinse in some removed tank water, it looks like it is caked in rotting food like Tetra Prima. Any old sponge that cannot fit in the U2 can be simply placed in the tank, so that you don't end up throwing away perfectly good bacteria. Either that or give your old filter impeller/cavity a clean, chuck the excess old media back inside and then see if you get better flow, I suspect you might if I'm right about the clogged up looking photo (and you then have a filter ready to act as a QT filter when needed).![]()

You might also want to look at how much you're feeding; as NOTG says, a lot of that does look like left over food.Looking at the photo, I would give that old media a gentle but good rinse in some removed tank water, it looks like it is caked in rotting food like Tetra Prima. Ah brilliant. Ok so just take some water out from the tank into a bowl and wash the sponges gently. I shall do that just nowthanks.

I know the poly carbon and biomax are important. Obv bacteria can live everywhere in the filter. But the biomax nodes are the prime place.

Someone tell me what info there was wrong. Im fed up of people wanting to look like they are the only ones who are right. Im only trying to help. She should have left the filter how it was. She wudda lost some bacteria from her old filter but i never said throw it away did i!. Peace out idiots
I gave no wrong information! I never said throw it away. You cud put it in your tank forr a week or two whilst your new filter cycles. And im on my phone. Im not trying to act big. I talk straight and type fast. And you are simple my love if you thini the poly carbon and the biomax isnt important. Lmao
Again i will say. Wheres the wrong information!
